I Work in the Store

I’m working with the store in Stuart Florida and specifically with customer service rep Caitlin Boo. From the first day of September 2022, I have received many fixtures which I did not order. Caitlin doesn’t return emails because she didn’t get the order right for two months. It looks like they are unable to see the paid sales order ticket and get the customer to pay and place the order.

The Company is Terrible

The company is terrible! Wouldn’t use them for anything! Placed an order in June and it is now mid-November and no sign of my item and zero communication despite my desperate attempts to get information. What a horrifying show they are and hopefully people will watch this before even thinking about dealing with them.


Poor Communication

The back order date gets pushed back with zero communication from Capitol. The ship date has now been moved to 9/26. I work in customer service because of my profession and communication is key to a successful customer relationship. He has zero communication skills. Will not order from them again.

One of the worst online ordering and customer service experiences I have ever had. They misrepresent lead times on their website, their supply chain management is terrible, they don’t communicate anything (I mean nothing) regarding orders, and they don’t even respond when you reach customer service Don’t be informed, and if you need a refund to be prepared for a long ride.

I Placed a Large Order and Cancelled

I placed a big order and cancelled my order 2 days after placing it. Received a confirmation email that my order was cancelled on March 15, 2022. It’s been over a month and I haven’t received the refund yet. I have contacted them several times and they claim that they are in the process of refunding me but I am still waiting.

Customer Service is Lacking

Customer service is lacking, to say the least. I bought a torch lamp less than a year ago and the button fell off. After several attempts to call, without success getting through to anyone, I emailed. After the initial response, they have gone radio silent. Capital Lighting has always been my lighting store of choice, but now I would hesitate to buy from them again.

The Company is Racist

The company is racist. They have terrible service. Customers call this company every day in distress. Capital Lighting treats its customers badly and its employees even worse. Capital Lighting lacks diversity. They have few or no black men working for them. Their website is misleading, deceptive, and unprofessional and has discontinued products listed for sale.

Be Aware that Product Shipping/Delivery

Be aware that product ship/delivery dates are misleading. My order was supposed to arrive within a week, but that date was pushed three weeks after I placed the order. And now that three weeks have passed, the order still hasn’t shipped. Contacted customer service and they said it would be shipped within 24 hours. It is now three days later and the item has not shipped yet.

Capital Lightning went to Eatontown: 1800Lighting.com

Went to Capital Lighting Eatontown yesterday with my wife and met Laurie. She was extremely helpful to us and went above and beyond to help us select and secure lights for a house we are building in the South.

The Website Has Misleading Shipping Times

We cancelled our order with another company selling the same light because this site said the items would be shipped in 2 days. That was 6 weeks ago. Called yesterday, but the call was not returned. Their customer service is terrible. Very frustrating… I would leave 0 stars if I could.

While I Ordered From The Capitol

While I’ve ordered from Capitol for years, my most recent experience is only giving me two stars. Actual delivery dates differ significantly from what they have stated. It would be fine if they actually return my phone calls and emails to get updates. While the products they sell are good, and the prices are ok (just ok), the very poor service is a dealbreaker here. I will not order from them again, that being said my previous experience was more favourable.

The merchandise is nothing like the picture and when you go to return it, they charge shipping and restocking fees. very confusing! It specifically says you will be refunded the total amount minus shipping… then about 10 paragraphs later they say some of their suppliers charge a restocking fee. They don’t mention this until the very end of the return policy, after the 3 steps to “Easy Return”.

I live in Delray Beach and am in need of some extensive lighting consulting and installation. My budget was $30,000. I went to Capital Lighting and explained my situation to them and they put me in touch with one of their lighting consultants. We made an appointment, and she came to our home and assessed our needs and we gave her our input. She said she will work on our request and get back to us with a plan.
Five weeks later we haven’t heard anything. Capital Lighting completely ghosted us. I would appreciate a response, even though we don’t think we can help you.

Ordered fixture with “43 in stock, ready to ship”. Hope to see you in 7 days. Then received an email that the ship day was adjusted to 7 weeks later! Still showing 30+ in stock. Finally, it showed up in 10 days, so not bad. just confusing.
